By mid-1998, LongRanger production was over 1626, of which at least 210 were 206L-4 models. 35 LongRanger IVs were delivered in 1996.

Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The 206L-4 is the latest variant of the LongRanger series. Compared to the preceeding L-3 version, improvements are
  • uprated transmission (365 kW instead of 324 kW)
  • heavier gross weight, up from 1882 kg to 2018 kg
Production is at the Mirabel plant in Canada.


History (Geschichte)
The LongRanger IV was announced on 22 March 1992 at the Heli-Expo convention in Las Vegas as the new standard of the widely used light helicopter. By that time, flight testing was "well under way" at the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, Texas. Transport Canada and FAA certification was achieved in October and deliveries started in December.
