Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The Bielik is designed as a low-cost plane for primary and advanced training of military pilots. Also, a “B”-version is said to be suitable for general aviation purposes.
Airframe design is mostly composite (carbon fibre), except for the rear fuselage made of light alloy. The one-spar wing employs a supercritical profile. A mechanical flight control system is used, with hydraulic boosted slab tailplanes.
The cockpit will be pressurised, with ejection seats. Also, in the series version, a simple system of thrust-vector control will be employed.

History (Geschichte)
The Bielik was started as a private venture project, envisaged as a successor to the Iskra jet trainer. The aircraft was unveiled in the third quarter of 2001 and made its maiden flight on 4 June 2003 at 17.28 hours.
