Customers (Kunden)
By December 2005, Sikorsky had announced the following customers for the S-76C++:
Era Aviation: 2. Ordered at Heli-Expo on 10 February 2005 for delivery beginning in the first quarter of 2006.
J. C. Bamford Excavators Ltd.: 1. Order signed in the autumn of 2005. Delivery was scheduled for September 2006. This transaction marks the first planned delivery of an S-76C++ into the European market.

Competitors (Konkurrenz)
Bell 412
Eurocopter EC 155

Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The S-76C++ is a follow-on to the S-76C+ variant of the long running helicopter design. Product improvements include:
  • Turbomeca Arriel 2S2 engine that provides a 5 to 6 percent increase in engine ratings, 350 to 450 lb increase in Category A takeoff gross weight at sea level 90F, and a barrier filter that provides superior protection against FOD and contamination
  • a new VIP leather interior including an improved soundproofing system using Keystone's SILENCER technology
  • a new HUMS (Health and Usage Monitoring System). The Honeywell VXP has 25,000 flight hours proven capability
  • the Quiet Zone Technology gearbox to enable significant interior noise level reductions without weight penalty, increased maintenance and with no increase in TBOs. With these improvements the interior will be 4 dBA lower than with previous transmissions

History (Geschichte)
Over the years, Sikorsky had considered various improvements to keep its S-76 attractive to VIP, offshore and Medevac customers. Finally, on 9 February 2005, at the Heli-Expo in Anaheim, the company announced that it was now offering an improved version of the S-76C+, dubbed the C++. Deliveries were anticipated to begin before the end of 2005.
In early December 2005, Turbomeca announced that its Arriel 2S2 had been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification by U.S. authorities was forecast for mid-December. Turbomeca said that the first production engines were scheduled for delivery in early in 2006. One hundred engines should be delivered by the end 2006
