Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The Hermes 900 is targeted at the growing demand for tactical medium altitude, long endurance UAVs. It features multi-paylaod capability and all-weather operations. An IATOL (Independent Auto Takeoff and Landing) system enables auto-landing even at alternate non-instrumented runways.
Multiple sensor fits under the nose and the central fuselage are possible, like electro-optics, IR and laser designator, SAR/GMTI radar as well as COMINT and ELINT systems. Line of sight and satellite data links are available.
Control is via the Elbit ground station already used for the smaller Hermes 450.
History (Geschichte)
The Hermes 900 was presented for the first time at the Paris Air Show in June 2007. At that time, a first flight in the autumn and certification in the spring of 2008 was mentioned.
